Final Touches: ART Finish Options for Prototypes


Applying the appropriate finish is the last step in the stereolithography and Polyjet printing process at ART. Our expert craftsmen ensure that your newly built parts are as polished—or as textured—as you need them.

Customers may choose from a variety of finish options at ART:

Basic Finish


Basic Finish:

SL: Supports removed and prototype lightly sanded on the down-facing surfaces to remove support stubble.

Polyjet: Support material removed













Standard Finish


Standard Finish:

SL: Basic finish plus heavy build lines removed on primary surfaces

Polyjet: Basic finish plus light sanding and Vapor Hone for uniform finish













Mold Finish


Mold Finish:

SL: Standard finish plus build lines removed from all cosmetic surfaces, primer coated, and textured if specified

Polyjet: Standard Finish plus build lines removed from all cosmetic surfaces, primer coated, and textured if specified













Show Finish


Show Finish:

SL: Mold finish plus detailed polishing and/or custom painting/dying for presentation-type appearance
